Precast Floors

Building house at the moment. We decided to go with the precast concrete floors upstairs to eliminate sound. They went in just before xmas. The plumber then did his few bits for upstairs, we put downsteel mesh and then poured 3+ inches of readymix on top of this. The problem is that we want to have block walls upstairs, and not timber partitions, also for sound. The blocklayer is saying that we need to use lightweight blocks, but the crowd who put in the concrete floors said that we could work away with normal blocks.
Anyone throw some bit of light on this???

we used the same heavy blocks above and below the precast floor. we got our precast from Wrights in Monaghan.
but ask your engineer to be on the safe side.

used hollowcore upstairs, standard blocks straight ontop of the hollowcore once it was grouted. Id say you blocky may be worrried that the extra weight of the blocks on top of your screed may crack or put your plumbng under stress since you have this done already.
