Health Insurance Pre-Existing condition?

Hi. In 1978 I was in a car accident & my ankle was badly broken. I had my final surgery on it in 1980. For the life of me, I can’t remember whether I declared this on my initial sign up with VHI. I left VHI to move to Bupa & then when Bupa pulled out I moved to LAYA, who are my current insurers.
I got 42 and a half good years out of the ankle, but now it’s giving me trouble & it’s more than likely I’ll need an operation on it.
My question is whether LAYA will view this as a pre-existing condition, if it turns out I failed to mention it initially, could they refuse to cover me?
As I said, I have never had any trouble with it for over 40 years & have never made an ankle-related claim.

Thanks in advance
Rose

You don’t need to declare pre-existing conditions when signing up to a health insurance plan. It’s only if you use the health insurance and try to claim for a pre-existing condition outside of the wait period you’ll have a problem
