PR Launch Costs

If anyone has hired a PR company to organize a product launch could they give me an idea of the fees involved?

I'm thinking along the lines of national media exposure pre-event and organising the launch party itself and would just like to get a ballpark figure for the budget necessary.

Are you only looking only at a PR company? Or have you considered a broader marketing approach to cover all associated PR, promotions and advertising/communications etc.?
