Posting photos on Google Maps Reviews

Occasionally, I will post a review of a restaurant on Google Maps, where I usually research and get directions for restaurants. I'm lazy and my wife usually takes the photos of the food. Therefore, when I go to add photos to my review, it only allows me to post photos taken by my phone, not those she has sent me via WhatsApp.

Any suggestions as to a setting or something I could change to overcome this?

Maybe the app (Google Maps? Browser? Etc...) only has permissions to access photos and not the wider filesystem on your phone? You should be able to check what permissions the relevant app has in the phone's system settings.

I'm not sure how to check that!

I don't know how to take a screen grab. That's not a screenshot, right?

You could have Googled...

Thank you. Actually, I had checked after your earlier response. However, I was searching for Google Maps whereas the app is listed as 'Maps'. In it, permission is given for 'camera, files and media'. No way to expand permission to WhatsApp Images etc.

Many thanks. I'll have to take pics myself in future!

When you click add photos when leaving a review, it will open up the photos from your camera, then if you click the icon that says add photos again, it will open up all the images from your camera, whatsapp etc and if you click on albums up the top you can narrow your search down to whatsapp images.

Thanks but no luck!

When you open a photo you’ve been sent on WhatsApp you can hard press it and choose the “save” option. On my phone at least, it then just goes into your photo album.

Thanks but no, won't move into camera, saves as a screenshot but can't upload a screenshot to Google Maps reviews!!

Looking at my Samsung Android, in Maps when I go to add a review, after clicking the 'Add photos' button, it presents a selection of photos taken on my phone to select from. However, top left of that list there are also 'Camera' & 'Add Photos' buttons. Selecting 'Add photos' there brings up my entire gallery including screenshots, WhatsApp images, etc.
