Possible vermin infestation in house - any advice?

I built a large extension a couple of years ago and have never had any problems with it. Last summer there was some disturbance in our area and we became aware that there were some rats around which I was sure I managed to get rid of from the garden / garage.

In the last week or so Mrs Roger is convinced that she has heard some scratching / scraping noises behind the bedroom wall. I have heard some noises but not scratching / scraping. Sounds more like very light debris falling down behing the plasterboard which I have suggested could be expansion / contraction as the weather changes - she's still not happy!!!

Would anyone have suggestions about how to approach this as I obviously don't want to be drilling holes in walls in the extension. Any advice would be much appreciated.

What sort of disturbance was going on in your area was it a case for the pipe piper!!:)

Honestly get yourself a couple of cats or put down some poison, it is probably vermin of some sort, mice perhaps, the weather is getting colder and this is the time of year for these creatures to make their way into the warmth of houses. Keep all outside doors shut from now to keep the pests out.

Hi Roger,

If you have a read through previous threads on rats you may get some advice or on mice.

Garden next door (which was in a bad way) has born torn apart so short term pain for long term gain hopefully....... Cat's may not be an option (although it has been mentioned) due to 12 year old faithful dog who has not performed in this situation but even still....

Agree with comments on the weather getting colder and we're keeping all doors closed - thanks for the advice tho.

Wife is becoming increasingly upset and losing sleep at this stage.....not fun.

Roger
