Hi – I wondered if anyone knew about claiming back CGT overpayments? I couldn’t find a specific thread on the topic…
I have to make a CGT payment by October 31st (on a few stock sales earlier this year) but I’m running late and don’t know if I’ll be able to get an accountant to do this in time: I’m abroad and can’t get hold of all the information right now. So I might have to make a rough calculation myself and make an interim payment on that basis. But I don’t know anything much about allowances or allowable losses or charges I can claim, so I think I’ll inevitably overpay if I do it myself.
My question is – is it possible/straightforward to claim back a CGT overpayment later? If anyone had any insights or ideas, I’d be really grateful,
thanks![FONT="]
