possible job with low salary

hey there

I had an interview today and I got positive feedback but won't know til the end of the week for definite if i'm successful.

Couple a things about it is the salary is a good bit lower than i was hoping for, the role is not completely what i was looking for and its a bit of a commute.

Obv i'm not presuming they'll offer it but just wondering what people think?

Would I be foolish to turn it down if it is offered in this economic climate

It depends on so many variables, are you working now, do you have commitments, a mortgage, children, dependents? Have you looked for many jobs, are your skills in demand?

If, in the simplest scenario, you are unemployed, no dependents, and have been jobhunting a while, I would say unquestionably to take the job. Opportunities and avenues for progression are much more likely to happen in a job than being out of one.

Given that from earlier posts, I would place the most emphasis on the commute. How far is it and how dear is it ? Night time might be dearer. If it's an hour each way then you have to factor that into an extra 10 hours a week. If it's within 30 minutes go for it. You can always cultivate the scene you are in and try to move somewhere else at a later stage.

If you are currently unemployed I'd say go for it as it should be easier to get a job when you have one than your unemployed period getting longer and longer. If the commute is longer than an hour I might reconsider that advice!
