Hi Folks,

Could anyone recommend a dog walking service in or around Portarlington, please?

Cheers,
Stuart.

I don't think anybody has been enterprising enough to set up an actual business Stuart but if you put up an ad in Super Valu or Costcutter you'd probably get some offers. If you're interested in finding a reliable local I have friends down that way, send me a PM if you like.

I checked this out a while back Stuart but couldn't find anyone. There's a place based in Kildare called Happy Tails (I think). Do a search and see if you can find it. Not sure if they do Port but it's worth a phonecall.

Vontrapp, thanks very much for your advice. I'll stick up a couple of signs in the shops locally and see what the response is like. I'll PM you now to get contact info for your friends in Port.

Yoltan, what did you come up with after you checked this out? We are keen to adopt a couple of dogs but they would be alone from 9 to 5 most weekdays, so I'd like to find a dog walker before we adopt.

Cheers,
Stuart.

Stuart,

We rescued a dog in November. We're lucky because we have family nearby that don't work and take our dog on days that we both work together (we work odd shifts). Personally I didn't want to take a dog and have him in the garden all day so I had to sort all this out before taking him. It's just my personal opinion. Friends of friends have 2 dogs and neighbours complained because they barked from the moment they left til they arrived home. Little dogs were perfectly happy once the owners came home and brought them in!!

The website is http://www.waggytrails.com/ Not sure if the work in Port but no harm in ringing. Hope it all works out. By the way if you're looking to rescue dogs pay a visit to ASH in Wicklow. Wonderful people with the most amazing little dogs looking for homes. http://www.ashanimalrescue.com/
