Polo Back Washer

Have a VW Polo and for some reason the water for the back windscreen is not working

Yes the watertank is full up and the front ones work ok

Would it be the lead going to it and what is the best way for a 'havent got a clue about cars' to fix it

Or is it straight to the local mechanic ?

Try sticking a pin in the nozzle, it may be blocked.

Or, see if there is a leak, i.e. when you push the button see if there is any water dripping into the boot.

If you can take the back panel off the boot (I cracked the plastic trying to do it on an Alfa) you should be able to see where the leak, if any is located. Or the pipe may have come loose.

Is it possibe there is a seprate bottle in the boot for the back window?

If there is no leak into the car, then I would say as suggested try a pin in the nozzle, if that doesn't work just put it down as a to do the next time the car needs a service.

the VW Polo uses the same washer bottle for front and rear. There is plastic tubing that runs from the washer bottle under the bonnet to the rear window. What usually happens is that one of the joints in this tubing comes loose and the water is not getting to the rear window wiper.

Open your boot door and have a look at the inside of the boot door, under the window. There is a plastic cover that is held on with clips. prise these off with your fingers if your strong enough or with a flat head screw driver. Be careful not to brake them though. Its easy enough to take off one you get once clip off. You should see the plastic tubing then and most likely the problem too.

Is the motor whirring when you try to wash the back window? If so it's a blockage somewhere.

Yep think this maybe the problem. Tried the pin but no joy. Had a look at taking the plastic cover off but would rather someone else would do this as as usual with cars i would probably bugger it up

May get in done at next service
