Plywood under ceramic tiles in kitchen

We are hoping to put ceramic tiles on a concrete (ground) floor in our kitchen. It was recommended to us that we put 6mm plywood sheets fixed to the concrete down first and then tile over this as it will prevent the tiles getting cold during the winter. Would it be worthwhile?

We have done this in our house. We put 4x4 batons under the ply and insulated with 100 ml insulaton. You need to paint a polybond onto the ply before tiling, and use flexible tile grout rather than the standard grout, to allow for slight movement of the floor. Havent moved in yet, so so can't give details of how the tiles feel.

Not sure about over concrete but I suppose there is some logic to that. We tiled our hall but that was a raise floor and we double layered it in ply; it worked very well. You also need to use the treated ply and will need to be fixed down well to stop movement.

This is interesting. We laid tiles over concrete in our hall and kitchen and they are quite cold most of the year. when you say 4x4 do you mean 4 inches? That is quite deep. New house, I guess?
