plumbing in washing machine with cold water fill only

I will be replacing my old washing machine which was hot and cold fill, with a new one which is cold fill only.
Is it possible to reconnect the cold water fill only, and turn off the hot water lever, as in do the job myself, or do I need to get a plumber in to disconnect/cap off/remove the hot water connection.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Simple job, leave the hot switched off and just connect the cold.. Dont forget to take out the drum supports. (Large bolts used to hold the drum in place in transit).

My washing machine only uses cold water but i also have a hot water supply going to the shed that it is situated in. I think the hot water supply has a leak in it's pipe.
I'm just wondering could i get it capped or should i just get it fixed. Will I ever have a need for a hot water supply again in my shed? Are all new machines only cold water fill only for example? I dont want to pay for a new pipe for the hot water supply if it's going to be a waste.

Where is the leak in the pipe -at the valve itself?

It's easy enough to cap a pipe yourself, if you feel you are up to do such.. Once water supply is turned off.

You can buy the pipe cap in a hardware store for a few euro... if you need to cut the pipe, then best to purchase a pipe cutter, failing that a hacksaw & sand paper...

Re washing machines using "hot water", I very much doubt it... but you may need hot water to the shed another time, so I would think it's best to cap it & leave it.
