Anyone have any ideas on the following:

Have plenty of oil in tank, switch in the house comes on, boiler starts up and stays on, but the rads aren't heating up at all?

Re: Plenty of oil, switch comes on, boiler starts up and stays on, but rads dont heat

Is the house zoned for heating ? Could all zones be switched off ?

Is the water heating from the boiler ?

some houses have a small water tank for the rads in the loft, this could be empty so no water going to rads

I had a problem similar to this in one rented house, the difference being that the upstairs radiators were scorching hot but downstairs were cold. Turned out to be a bust pump.

Is the thermostat set correctly ? Turning it up might solve the problem.

its probably your waterpump you can ease back the round cover of pump and you will see a notched screw turn it with a screwdriver that should free it,or else your rads are badly airlocked also feel the inlet pipe to rads if hot you know they are airlocked,so bleed them

An update.

We bled most rads, no sign of any air in them.

We checked the small tank in the attic, seems to be enough water.

We turned the oil boiler on today, it sounds normal.

But, 45 mins later, the rads were still cold, as were the pipes into them. Also, the cylinder water tank in the hot press was cold.

Any ideas?

45 mins later

Hit the reset button on the boiler - its probably a red light button! I had this problem too...
