We're looking into getting a 16 x 16 ft sun-room built on to the back of our house. It would have a south-south west aspect. Anybody care to provide hints & tips on what we should be aiming for with this build.
And more importantly - can anyone recommend a builder with sun-room experience or a specialised company? We're in Meath close to the Dublin border. Thanks!
insulate it to the highest point available/energy saving glass, we have all glass as opposed to windows set in blockwork, plan where you are going to have furniture etc and then plan tv etc. Plan to include blinds, make sure you can get them hung as we just had enough of a lip left to hang them. Do you need a door/deck off it?
We have a full glass unit(double doors) installed between the kitchen and our sunroom as to keep heat in the kitchen.
We've used these guys in the past and had a very good experience throughout. May not be the cheapest but competitive and great finish quality and keeps to timelines unlike others we've used for building work!
Thanks sandals. The insulation is a very good point especially as we're thinking of having it open to the kitchen. Thanks for the tip about the blinds too. We had been thinking of all glass but I saw the block work with windows version yesterday & now I'm debating.
Thanks for the tip mrblues. I will certainly check them out.
Has anyone any idea of prices? I know it's "how long is a piece of string" - but even a rough estimate. Would like a minimum of 16' x 16'. Ideally a bit bigger if cost doesn't ruin that plan!
I can strongly recommend http://www.abellconstruction.com/ . Paul Abell is the man to talk to. The guys did several larger and smaller jobs for ne, and just getting them back for an extension.
No connection just very happy customer.
