Playstation 3 40GB/80GB

Are there any big differences between the 40 and 80 GB PS3. Thinking of getting one on my honeymoon in the states but need to know if there are any differences other than the simple fact of a larger hard drive.

the main difference seems to be PS2 compatibility through software emulation.

Do bear in mind that you'd be getting an NTSC machine and this is a PAL region we're in.

Region free for games but not BR movies.

yeah indeed but i can get my BR movies in the states.

So it will be ok with the tv and if i want BR movies i get american ones. correct ???

I cab get the 40 for about 280 euro over there

Correct.

amazon.com have very good prices for BR discs and will ship to Ireland (not very quickly though). Just make sure you only buy one or two movies per order for customs purposes. Still works out at approx 50% of the cost of buying in shops here. They also frequently have 2-for-1 offers etc. Worth keeping an eye on the site.

Some movies will play on any PS3, even though they are advertised as region a or region b specifically. See here http://bluray.liesinc.net/
Some movies are region free - see the region free section on www.movietyme.com, not as cheap as amazon.com.
