planning retention required extension

Hi,
We're gearing up to selling our house next year and I have a question regarding planning permission or retention.

We knocked an existing extension when we bought in 1999 and built a bigger one. At the time it was sufficiently big to require planning permission, which we requested and got. However the law changed around that time and the size of extension possible without permission increased (sorry don't remember m2) which meant we wouldn't have had to get permission.

I seem to remember there being something to "do" after we built the extension in relation to the p.p. ( advise that the work had been carried out?) which we never did.

So my question: when we want to sell, will we need retention or something?
Thanks for any advice.
 
Perhaps a cert of exemption to say it doesn't need planning or an engineer to certify the works?
 
In relation to the size of an extension that doesn't need planning permission the answer is 40 sq metres. A google search threw up this very good topic on [broken link removed]

You say you DID get planning permission. The only things you'll need for the sale would be a copy of the planning permission and a certificate from your engineer to certify compliance with planning permission and building regulations. If you didn't get this certificate at the time, you can now ask the engineer to come out and inspect and give you said certificate.
