Hi Folks

Anybody got any hints or tips with regard to applying for planning permission to establish a pre-school in my home?

As this is a 'Change of use' application - has anyone went through it - what grounds for appeal should I consider ??

Thanks

Hi,
Are you aware of the Preschool Regulations? Do you mean building a seperate facility on your property, or actually using your place of residence? Where would you put the children?

It would be in my permanent residence.

We've built an extension, that has been vetted by the health board and they've said that with minor alterations it would be approved for play school use by them.

My next priority is to secure the planning 1st time with no objections.

Any hints or tips gratefully recieved on securing approval 1st time.

tks

There was an objection lodged to such a change of use in Malahide recently.

If you can find the application/objections, it may be useful (either Fingal County Council or Bord Pleanala).

Sorry I can't provide more info-I remember my gf reading it to me from the paper (Irish Times Property 2 weeks ago) but wasn't particularly interested.

How many children will you have? If less than 6 at any one time, you are exempt from planning.

thanks for the info on the Malahide case.

I do plan to have about 10 children, so would require the PP.

cheers.

hi, lucylou was right, get a copy of the planning and preschool
regulations which your architect will/should have. You'll also need
a fire cert for this building, you'll need to have to have a higher
that standard level of fire protection which your architect will
inform you of. An important issue for the planners when looking
at yout application will be traffic and this depends on your location.
you really have to consult an architect at an early stage.
