Planning permission for extension

Hi

hoping to build extension to my house. have been told that i can build 40sq/m without seeking planning permission.

are there any guidelines to go with this, i.e. windows facing neighbours house?

We are planning a two storey extension at back of house of 40sq/m in total in Co. Galway

appreciate any help on this

This gives the basic requirements, which should give you a good indication.
