Hi - I want to buy a number of suits and want to go up north to do so. Can anyone recommend any suit shops that specialise in mens suits and that have a large range. A northern equivalent of Louis Copeland let's say?

Have you not seen the deals that are being offered in the Republic or do you prefer to take your business over the Border ?? Men's clothes are every bit as cheap here as there. Or is the thrill of helping the retail trade suffer suffer suffer.

I've seen the deals here Mercman...but as every commentator was saying 6 months ago that consumers should shop around, I'd like to visit a shop in northern ireland as well since I'm going to be there next week in any case. Is that OK with you?

These boards used to be a place for measured dialogue...nowadays when someone posts, people snipe at them from some self-righteous platform. Please Mercman, don't join their ranks. I'm asking for help on men's suits...

The Savoy Tailors Guild have a shop in The Outlet in Banbridge, Austin Reed are there too as are Jeff Banks Menswear.

The Outlet is about 15-20 mins north of Newry.

What have been people's experiences in terms of the cost of men's suits and clothes in NI compared to down here?

I regularly fly from Dublin to Glasgow Prestwick, then a quick 10 minutes by train to Ayr. A place called Slaters Menswear they have a huge selection of suits, shirts, ties and shoes. I Bought 4 suits for £250 (havent found anything close to it here. I take the other half and we make the day of it. Its a 35 minute flight, lunch is cheap, and a few beers at the airport on the way home.

Its something different

PS we got return flights for €26 for both last saturday
