Just wondering why irish media slow to refer to Ireland as a member of this unfortunate club. Most foreign media use the term and it occurred to me are we a bit sensitive?

I think we are trying to convince ourselves that things are not that bad and we are over the worst of it.
Don't buy it myself.

I always hear it referred to in the Irish media with us included. I hate the term. Typical London trading floor humour. They must have had a right giggle over their lunchtime pints at that one.

It is a highly offensive term.

We are trying to convince ourselves we are not borrowing 20 plus billion in a 12 month period.

Well they're as bad as us!

How about Poland, United Kingdom, Estonia, Slovenia?

Bide our time to get our own back on the "Pukes"!

The Greeks seem to like it as i saw a coloured photo of a protest in Athens with the tricolour painted in the I in the word PIGS. In fairness i think we are a little touchy when we are subject to any unfavourable comment.
