I was using my cheap Nokia not-smart phone successfully until yesterday when it suddenly showed no signal. So, I turned it off and back on again. When it came on, it asked me to insert a SIM card. There's a card in it - I haven't touched anything inside it, in fact I don't know how to open it to get at the SIM card. Anybody got any idea what the problem might be?

Turn it off .Take off the back.Take out the battery.Remove sim card.Clean sim card with dry cloth.Reassemble.Turn back on.If the problem persists get a new sim card.

Sounds like the sim has died or the network provider has terminated it.

If the sim has died then a replacement is required, if it has been terminated by the network provider call them - it can be returned to service over the air.

Got the back off, followed your instructions, and phone still looking for SIM card. It's back to the Vodafone shop for me! Thanks for the replies.
