Howdy folks,

I know this query is reeeally basic for hard-core AAMers but I'm not sure where I stand and would appreciate some advice.

I bought a phone in Argos in March 2005 and slowly but surely over the past few months it has fallen to bits to the point that it's now essentially unusable (one unit doesn't work at all, the units don't charge reliably and the answering machine doesn't). I have the receipt and the manuals (not the packaging which has long since gone to the recycle centre). Can I return it? (I wouldn't hessitate to return it except that it's more than a year since I bought it and am wondering if I still have any entitlement for refund/replacement?)

thanks in advance folks,

c

Hi Coolaboola

It would appear that you are covered by EU law 199/44/EC (not to mention contract law in Ireland)

Bring it back to Argos - you have the receipt.

Argos ( in Newry) replaced a hair dryer that we bought no questions asked a few years ago. straight forward exchange ( we had the receipt) . Also Cu junior bough himself a cd player for college ( didnt want to take his 'good' one with him) in Currys Newry last September. Gave trouble around January. Currys replaced it no question, again with the receipt.
