Hi,
I recently purchased the philips recordable dvd player with a harddrive.
Unfortunately I see that only some DVD's will play correctly.
Some DVD's play fine, and then start to stutter and a blue screen appears

I tried the same DVD on a 45euro player and they work fine.

I know someone mentioned on this forum that ths particular player only supports CDR - etc

I can't get any support on this from philips, and the shop are useless..

Could the player be faulty or is it just a dodgy restrictive player??

Cheers

Sounds like a defective player to me.

Recent Philips players and recorders should play pretty much anything in the DVD family except probably DVD-RAM. Also, recent DVD recorders record onto DVD + and - R or RW. Again, everything apart from RAM. They might not record onto Dual Layer discs but will play them; after all, most rented DVDs are dual layer.

Also, if it didn't support a particular disc, I would expect it to just refuse to play it at all, not start playing it and then give problems.
