I have a number of small projects outside which will require the use of a cement mixer-up to now I have hired one -pain in the neck- I am looking to purchase a small capacity mixer- how much should I expect to spend? what is a good model? Should I go for petrol driven or electric? Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem - much more convenient to have your own. Electric is less costly and easier to start - doesn't mind long periods of inactivity between jobs! Petrol obviously independent of power supply but heavier and more expensive. I considered buying a petrol and selling again when the jobs were done but in practice they never are! In the end I went with electric. I think Argos did a small one but your local hardware/builder's yard will often have an offer. Electric could be €200-300, petrol nearly twice that.
