Folks,
A cross border executrix here for my late mum, looking for a bit of clarity on probate fees for personal applications for grants. About 80% of mum's estate is UK based, neither she nor any of her beneficiaries have ever been Irish domiciled/resident. Irish estate is very simple and worth about 100,000 euro.
I contacted the probate registry as I was aghast to see the fee schedule is based on the value of the estate, and sought clarification as whether the fee was based on the net Irish estate only. Of course, they seem to have misunderstood and not answered the question, so I am none the wiser. The difference in what I would pay as a personal applicant is over 700 euro if her UK assets are factored in and considering these assets are administered outside the state, and exempt from CAT, I do not see why they should be included!
Can anyone who knows the answer to this please enlighten me.
Thanks in advance
