Fixed term contract staff applied for Permanent Positions in the company and were interviewed and told that they would find out in 2 weeks who was successful .This was 16 weeks ago and they still haven't been told even though in other Departments Permanent Positions were interviewed for and they found out within 1 to 2 weeks. Can a company refuse permanent jobs after posting the jobs ,interviewing staff and Keep them waiting for so long to hear while making other departments fixed term staff members permanent. Thanks for any help in this .

Was thinking that myself, it does suck but seem strange they can say a head count problem for production and still be making office staff and Tech's just in the door permanent, doesn't seem right
They are entitled seek the best possible candidates for these jobs. They must feel that they can find better candidates elsewhere. Perhaps you could have a discussion with your manager on aspects of your knowledge/performance that could be improved that would make you a more compelling prospect for these or future roles?
i say it might be more that one area is closing soon and if the headcount is increased with an area closed they'll have an extra staff issue, they are all great workers no issue there, but just not telling anyone and keeping then wait for so long seems a a very poor way to run a business .
