My parents made final payment on their mortgage back in January and have been hounding Pepper for deeds ever since. They still haven't received them, despite numerous calls etc.
Should they be concerned? And what is their best approach?
They just keep fobbing them off. In my mother's words, "they sound like they're working from home in their slippers and we're an inconvenience to them." My mother asked to speak to Complaints Department and was told she couldn't.
If the redemption figure has been paid in full together with any contractual administrative costs, they are obliged under the Mortgage Contract to issue a Vacate/Deed of Discharge and release the Deeds. Go to a Solicitor and have the Solicitor threaten them with any loss arising from failure to release unless they release the Deeds within 7 days. There’s no excuse for a 12 month delay.
