Pensions-don't know much about it

I want to know about pensions in this country. All I know at the moment is that I and my employer are contributing every month. I don't know much else. Where and how do I go about learning more.

My husband does not have an occupational pension scheme. So, I think the PRSA is what he needs. I'm afraid I don't know much about that either.

Please offer me some direction. Thanks.

Hi miki,

Have a look at the pensions chapter from the Guide to Savings and Investments by Brendan Burgess, founder of Askaboutmoney.com. Some of it is a little out of date, but it's a good starter.

You should contact the pension scheme consultant who administers your own pension scheme and ask for the scheme booklet. If you don't know who the scheme consultant is, try the Human Resources Department of your employer. If it's a small company, try whoever looks after salaries.
