Happy New Year Greetings one and all - thank you kindly for great advice always...

I am reading an article ‘pension property investment ‘ in Sherry Fitzgerald’s City & Country magazine - issue 66. Can’t find a link to share it here.

Bottom line is that it recommends investment of pension funds in property... is this an official scheme. ... can one get the normal tax reliefs that we get via investment in financial services pension fund ?

I see an advert online via a broker with similar idea ....

Stop the press! Estate agent recommends investing in property

You can set up a self directed pension and purchase the property through the fund. You can borrow up to 50% of the value of the property, subject to lending criteria. Pension contributions and rent can be used to pay down mortgage. It all operates as a normal pension scheme regarding contributions, tax relief etc. The purchasing of the property is the same process as normal too, conveyancy etc required.
