PC will not recognise printer?

I am having trouble printing from my PC. When i plug the printer ( HP PSC 1400) into either the USB hole on the front or back of the PC it will not print, nothing happens at all when i press print!

Yet when i plug it into the usb on my laptop it will print away.

Anyone any ideas?

Is it new? Are the printer drivers installed - there should be a disk with the printer.

No its pretty old but it has been in for fixing a while ago i think, maybe it was uninstalled or something? ill get the installation disk and give it a try sure, thanks!

..or if you can't find the disc download the driver from d'internet....
