I am building a house and hope to start very soon once the contracts are agreed. My contractor is putting togeather his quote in the format that was requested by the engineer. However prior to the engineer coming on board the same contractor gave us a quote for the build of the house and we decided to go furhter with the builder on the basis of that. His quote was for 200,000 he outlind various PC sums for flooring and kitchen. As far as i was concerned the PC sums were included in the 200,000 and that this was our total with a certain amount to spend on the floor and Kitchen. Is this correct? At a meeting recently I think that contractor implied that they were not, however am not sure and want to be prepared for discussion should a problem arise once we have received the detailed sum. has anyone got any advise here.

When I got quotes for an extension I got PC (Projected costs) also, and they were included in price. If I went with my own plumber or electrician then the PC cost would be deducted from original quote....

Why don't you have two contractors submit prices. Tell them that you want an all inclusive price incl.Vat. in this way you will be able to determine if you are getting a good price. The price of building is falling and you might save 10 / 15%.
