Payroll question

Hi, hoping someone can tell me the ans to this, Google is throwing up nothing.
With monthly payroll processed via SAP. How many days after payroll run does money get posted to the bank?
I work in the HSE and we are due to be paid Wednesday. But with bank holiday on Monday, is Tuesday enough time for payroll to run and have it in accounts by Wednesday? I would have thought they would have to run payroll today for it to get there by Wednesday but colleague says no!

Doesn't your contract of employment say when you should be paid? I.e. when the money should be in your account?

Yes ClubMan it sure does. However, it can vary month to month as weekends, bank holidays, shorter months can obviously affect this date. This is what we were trying to ascertain. I believe payroll would have to run this week due to the bank holiday, my colleague believes it will only run on Tuesday.
My question is simply that, how long after a SAP payment run does funds hit a bank account?

Not sure if relevant in your situation, but as a PAYE worker it depends on what bank you are with.

My previous employer was with BOI and I experienced different delays at times as I'm AIB for salary payments.

My current employer payments are made through AIB so depending on the pay date I get paid into my account quicker. For example for Monday pay dates I see the funds in my account on Saturday ahead of others.

HSE use Danske Bank, Tuesday is fine for getting a SEPA transfer into your account by Wednesday. The delays are with the Irish banks still doing batch processing. You would be working beside someone with an Spanish Account and they would have the money earlier in the morning, but it might not arrive into a BOI account until the afternoon.

I assumed payroll runs this week in order to allow enough time for situations just like these. Different bank accounts etc. However their point was that so long as SAP runs before 3:30pm funds should be in the next day. Which sounds very strange to me.

well that settles that so. I was sure it would have to run a few days prior but everyday is a school day as they say. Thanks for that

I use to work in HSE payroll. The deadline is brought forward so is payroll people weren't big fans of bk hldys as we were under a lot of pressure. We use to need 3 banking days for pay to be credited to employees accounts, not sure if it's still the case. Can't see any big number payroll running the day before it's due.

Every January all the bank holidays / Christmas are looked to update the deadlines.
