A person is taking 2 days parental leave for the period of a full year, and their wages will be obviously reduced as it's unpaid.
Should the gross wages on payroll be revised down to 3/5th of their gross?
Or should the gross be left as is, and parental leave marked as a deduction?
Or does it matter at all, I can't find any information to tell me if one is a more correct way than another to do this?
The gross wages should be revised downwards to 3/5ths of their gross. Remember that parental leave is reckonable service for the purposes of annual leave, public holidays, redundancy etc; so the employee should get their full annual leave entitlement and full payment for bank holidays.
Also, the maximum parental leave for a full time worker is 70 days (35 weeks @ 2 days per week) - is the person taking leave for more than one child?
