Paypal limit question

I've been using Paypal for a couple of years and more than happy with the service. Yesterday evening I bid & won an items fo STG£200+ and went to precess the payment but failed because it was "over my limit".

When I check my limit which was €1500 but saw that I only had €12 or so "remaining". How can this be when my credit card pays Paypal immediately and there has been no defaults - surely my limit should still be €1500.

I have process their "expanded number" thingy and paid the 1.50 charge but apparently this does get processed through your credit card for 3-4d ays and in the meantime I have a vendor waiting to be paid and I want to close my side of the deal.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Roy

It should be possible to contact paypal support and resolve this. Also, I am not sure but i think if you have a verified account you are allowed greater priviliges than an unverified account. Finally, I think you can lodge money to your paypal account and therefore lower your limit.

It may not be possible for you to resolve this. I have had major problems with Paypal which are unresolved.

The 'expanded use' thing failed in my case, there is an automated system which verifies the card holders address, this said my address was wrong, possibly because of a misplaced comma or space... this cannot be overridden by humans and so I cannot add that card to my account as it is now banned. So I can't use Paypal at all.

I have complained to them, no reasonable action taken. (apart from a €20 bribe but I am still upset about being denied the use of Paypal). I have also complained about the customer service reps being deliberately awkward and seemingly enjoying my problems and enjoying telling me that nothing can be done, smart comments, refusing to escalate the issue, answering questions that weren't asked and not answering questions that were asked. Paypal is now a joke for Irish customers in my opinion and I would urge people to complain about their over zealous security arrangements which are flawed.

I have complained to the UK financial regulator about the use of automated systems which cannot be overridden, no joy so far.

Good luck,
Joe
