Hi, I was on maternity leave from work last year & the company paid me a weekly sum (not my full salary).
Consequently per my P60 I made 30 weeks AO contributions whilst I was off work & 22 weeks A1 contributions . I didnt apply for credits for the 4 weeks I was not receiving maternity benefit as the company paid me the weekly amount for these also.Just wondering in the event that the company goes into liquidation will I be entitled to full job seekers benefit ?
Thanks welfarite.
I've read your excellent keypost.
I think the best thing to do is to apply for credits for the additional 4 weeks unpaid maternity leave that I took so that if I needed to rely on 2009 as my governing year next year for any reason, my PRSI records for 2009 would be correct.
Is there a timeline for applying for these credits though ?
yeah, ususally you have to apply at time but they will consdier a backdating application if the reason for not applying at the time is considered valid. Go in and chat to them if you want and make application; 4 weeks missing won't make any difference really.
As you say you had 30weeks at AO, and 22 weeks at A1, I can't see where 4 weeks credits come in.
The full 52 weeks appear to be accounted for with an A rated contribution. Have I read this correctly
That's what my P60 says. The 30 weeks A0 is where the employer paid me but I didn't make an employees contribution as the amount paid was too low. I'm taking my 26 weeks maternity credits from this 30 weeks to arrive at the 4 weeks where I feel I should apply for credits for.
As long as your P60 shows 52 A rated contributions your full year is covered. There is nothing further you can add.
Some of those contributions were made by you and your employer jointly, others were made by your employer only.
Your cannot have credits for the same weeks which are already covered by contributions
