I'm beginning to think the main problem with the LPT is that the revenue gave too many options on payment. For the NPPR and the Household charge it was very simple, you had one liability date, and one payment date, and you paid in one lump sum.

The NPPR though was a charge aimed at the "affluent" who were perceived as being able to afford the €200 without any problem and the household charge which was "only" €100 initially was perceived as being a "small" amount which people could payoff in one go!

The "Powers" that be actually believe the property tax may be a bit more difficult to pay so that's why they gave all the different options. What nice guys they are-the BULLIES!!!!

I don't remember thinking that about the NPPR, and it certainly doesn't apply to the many 'reluctant' landlords in NE with mortgages they cannot properly repay. A lot of landlords are also paying tax on non existent 'profits'.
