Paying by cheque for Insurance

Sorry if this seems a stupid question. My house insurance is due September 13 (Monday week).
I will pay by check. Do I need to pay a few days before the 13th in order for the cheque to clear or is this not necessary.

Just worried about not being covered in time.

If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

It's generally not a good idea to leave everything to the last minute.

But insurance companies give you a few days' grace anyway.

So you should be fine.

They will mark it as paid when they get the cheque. And unmark it if the cheque is not honoured.

I was waiting on the broker to give me a quote, which he finally did last Thursday.

He then said he would try to get a cheaper quote for me.

Then I started thinking about the cheque clearance time.
