Hi my wife is due our 1st child in 4 weeks time and I'm just wondering does anyone know how many days fathers are entitled to of work.
 
As far as i know it's 3 days at your employers descretion, so not guaranteed. I'm not 100% on this so maybe check out the citizens advice website.

Bottom line is: there is no entitlement to Paternity Leave in Ireland. There is an entitlement to Parental Leave but it's not the same scheme. Paternity Leave is down to employers discretion and varies from employer to employer. My employer for example gives two weeks paid Paternity Leave while my friend's only gives 3 days. I also heard from other people that they get nothing. So best thing to do is check your company's handbook/ policy.
