Hope to travel to Lanzorote in November and my passport expires in February next. Per some irish tgovernment website it says that travel to all EU states only need the passport to be valid for the period of travelling (am aware the need to have it a little longer in case of delay in returning). some other websites refer to validity for a period of 6 months from date of travel. Perhaps some kind poster would put my mind at rest.

While you can use your passport that is valid for the whole period to go through immigration in Spain you should be aware that some airlines have different requirements for them to allow you on board of their aircrafts.

Just because the immigration law says one thing not all airlines have the same rules.

Example as a german citizen you can enter spain with a passport that is expired less than 1 year, however an airline can refuse you because their rules say it needs to be 6 month valid. It's contradicting but possible.

So check with your airline before you go.

If they did that to be they would be sued. Airlines think they can do what they like but in practice they would be on very shaky ground.
