passport expiry

mrs majees passport expires in mid august. we are going to spain from end july till early august. does anyone know definitively if spain is one of those countries that requires that your passport be valid six months after your return date. i've tried the dept foreign affairs website but it just says 'certain countries' require this but there is no link to the 'certain countries'. i've also tried to ring the passport office but can't get through. anyone know for sure?
