Passport expire in August, can I travel to Canada in July using it?

I'm due to travel to Canada for a 3 day business trip in early July. My passport expires on 9th August, does anyone know if the fact that my passport has such a short time to run on it will cause a problem for Canadian immigration.

Oh, and its a last minute thing, hence me not renewing it sooner.

If you were traveling to USA, your passport must be valid for the 90 days that you have been admitted to the country even if you have return flights booked for a few days after you arrive.

Perhaps Canada is the same?

Wrong information for the USA. Passport needs only be valid for the length of stay.

Does Canada have an embassy in Ireland? If they have, then surely that should be your first point of contact.
