Is it possible to convert a cro and vat registered business entity from a partnership to a sole trader under the name of one of the original partners, and if so what would the process be? I'm not having any look finding an answer on google.
You cannot convert a partnership to a sole trader as such. If a partnership reduces below 2 then it ceases to be a partnership. The partnership must cease and de-register with Revenue. The sole trader commences to trade and registers with Revenue as a sole trader. If there is a business name which was used by the partnership then that business name would be ceased by the partnership ( forms for this on CRO ) . The sole trader can then separately commence usage of a similar business name by registering it with the CRO.
