Hi all,
I hope someone can help me. 6 weeks ago myself and partner decided to move in together. I was on lone parents payment so we sought advice from citizens information about coming off this and going on Jobseeker's Allowance. My partner is on Jobseeker's benefit and is on causal dockets as is work is causal and erratic. We where told once his wages don't go over 402 euro a week tat I would be entitled to around 125 a week( he earns 400 for a full weeks work which rarely happens that he works a full week). So we went into social welfare and declared we were moving in together. 6 weeks later and about 40 forms later I got a call today to say if he earns 400 euro a week I am entitiled to nothing? However because he doesn't earn this every week they will look at his earnings for past 13 weeks and try and average it and base my payment on that? My questions are how much can he earn so I still get something and how are social welfare going to determine my payment when he is on a 2 day week or not working at all for weeks which does happen. Help.

I'm very sorry, but we have one child. Forgot to put that it original post.

Why dont you go on his claim as an adult dependant and put your child on his claim as a child dependant. At the end of the day you will not receive any more having your own claim as there will be what is call a max pay situation.

Also by being down as a dependant you are released from the need to be seeking work.

Unfortunately if I went on his claim I would not be entitled to do anything eg. Internships, fas course etc.
