Part Time Work and JSA

After nearly a year and a half unemployed and tons of letter writing, I've had good news from a job interview which i've done recently. Fairly certain (although nothing is 100% in this life anymore) that I will be offered the job.

Its only part time - 3 days a week, but its better than nothing. My question is as my hubbie is also unemployed we get Jobseekers Allowance at the moment, me as the claimant and him as the dependant would he be entitled to some form of payment if I get this job. The pay is €345 for the 3 days, would this amount have a bearing on him, or is there a limit to what a spouse can earn. Called into my local SW office today to try and get some info but all they said was call back when I have the job.

If anyone can fill me in this would be great as I'm trying to work out how much we will have on this new wage after tax etc.

Sorry forgot to mention that at present we get a total of €312.80 between us. We have no children and dont claim for anything else.

312.80/2= 156.40...dole for one

156.40/6days = 26.07 perday dole

26.07 x 4 days = 104.26

104.26 + 345 + 156.40 = €605 total income for two

i hope this is right?

Are you sure this is correct AskU as were are both of Jobseekers Allowance I dont think I'll get any dole for the days I'm not working. If this is right I'll be very happy.

Thanks Gipimann for the reply also, but i'm confused when I looked at this link, not sure what they mean when it says the means is halfed if one person is getting a sw payment, is it half of our joint €312.80 per week or half of his dependant allowance of €124.80

The halving of means doesn't apply in your case as your husband doesn't have a claim in his own right.
