part-time work and 3 day week

We are really con.fused about what to do. The husband full time job has been reduced to 3 day week. Now i have read the tread on been unemployed but dont see this situation. He works also for a fella up the country but this is very rare maybe 1 day in every two months as its gone very quite as well. Now he pays tax/prsi etc for this day but how will this affect his signing on for two days? if he cant sign on for the two days every week its not worth his while doing the part time job. We really dont know what to do, dont mention the other job and if he is working one of the days not sign on for that day? please help what we should do thanks

You say he only works one day in every two months so he should sign off for that day also. The rules state that he must have three effective unemployed days in ANY six days, working backwards/forwards, so it may be that he will get paid for all days he is not working, depending on this. Impossible to say. It may well be that it is not worth his while keeping up the part-time job but it's his call...
