Part-time course at NCI: Options when dealing with course results/assessment?

Hi,

I completed a part-time course recently in NCI. There was no exam, just a presentation and a project submission. I received the results of the feedback and assessment however, there are some problems:
1. The notes/comments and feedback as written by the lecturer are illegible. Other students in the class experienced the exact same problem. I contacted the relevant department and the notes are being transcribed for me. However, when I mentioned that the other students are experiencing the same problems and whether they can transcribe their respective notes/comments/feedback, they are unwilling to do this without an explicit request by each student. Does this seem fair? What can be done here if even that department are not willing to let all the students know that this transcription service is available?

2. The results I received were good but the problem I have is that they are contradictory and do not make sense. I do have the option to discuss the results with the lecturers and have a recheck. I would however, like a breakdown of the marking system but they seem unwilling to provide this. What options do I have to get an actual breakdown of the marking system used? What's the usual process involved to bring this matter to the attention of the relevant authorities within the college?

Thanks.

Their should be an appeal form for both
a recheck of the marks - which normally is just a recount
a recheck of the paper - requries the whole paper to be rechecked and validated that the score was correct.

If you are still not happy after the above then you should be able to lodge an appeal to the board about your results. Their is normally a small time frame window for an appeal.

Check on their website or contact the admin staff for verification of the site link.

Thanks alexandra123 for the helpful details and clarification. I got some feedback from the admin staff stating that the lecturer involved is coming into NCI today to discuss this issue. However, none of my questions have been answered as yet by any of the NCI staff.

I think it's appalling that students attending and paying for such courses are treated like this and that the NCI staff continue to be unhelpful and do not provide the requested information and actions.

You are also entitled to a diploma supplement which should give the assessment structure breakdown.

Thanks bigchicken, I simply can't get information from anywhere on that exact point. The course I completed was a HETAC Cert (level 8) so what am I entitled to there that would clarify details on the breakdown of the marking system?
