Thinking of going to Paris for the New Year.
Ryanair flights relatively cheap.

Has anyone done this on previous New Years. What is the athmosphere like over there? Is it worth the trip, or will most places be closed around that time.

I read a previous post about Paris, but this was from 2003. Any up-to-date information appreciated.

Lived in Paris for 6 years , loved the place and still do.

Although it helps to speak some french.

Bonne vacances

All,

Anyone know if the main tourisr attactions in Paris will be closed for the new year. Want to head out on the 29th and back on Jan 2nd, but don't think there is any point going if everywhere is closed.

Cheers,

Jason.

Was in Paris at the weekend - 23 degrees and blue skies!! - and major shutdown of shops on a Sunday which would leave me to think it could be similar around new years. Restaurants and touristy places were open alright.

New Year is nearly a bigger deal for the French than Christmas, so I'd say there'll be no shortage of ambiance... dunno about shopping, 'though. Do you not think you'll be "all shopped out" by then? ;)
