parental leave from new position

Hi - I'm wondering what is the situation with taking parental leave (the unpaid leave) from a job. Do you have to be working in the job for a certain amount of time ?

afaik parental leave can be postponed but cannot be denied.

I know of a person (in the private sector) who has got parental leave after 6 months in the job.
