I have a panic button on the window sill of my bedroom but it does not seem to do anything - what are they supposed to do.

Are they supposed to set off the alarm or what???
 
Yes, they set off the alarm. Sometimes there is a small key that fits into the top or side to enable the alarm and so cut down on false alarms by accidently hitting the button. Maybe your key is missing?
 
the key is for resetting the alarm..the button should work without it..open the box witha screw driver and check if the cable is connected

Thanks, good to know... thankfully I've never had to use it!
