Hi,

I am undertaking some due diligence for a friend on a development in Pamporova, does anyone have any experience with the resort?

I have searched previous threads, which have been helpful, but I would like any background information people have on the quality of the place, what the skiing is like, the length of the season and level of building work etc and of course prices in developments.

Thanks a lot,

Geordie.

A lot of sunshine in this resort, which would make me worry about snow levels, especially in a few years with global warming.

It is true, which makes it also an excellent summer resort for those who like trekking the mountains. The Rodope range, in which Pamporovo resides, is famous among the Balkan people with its vast forests and increadibly healthy air. It is not by coincidence this is the region where there are more 100- and over years old people (O.K., partly due also to the environmentally pure local yougurt, which is nothing like the one we eat elsewhere in Europe) than anywhere, except for Japan, maybe (haven't checked, can't swear on it). Sanatoria and monasteries have selected the area as well, and for the same reasons.

The shorter ski season is something we will witness everywhere, I guess, whether we like it or not.

Sorry, forgot to mention: you can see some photos of those very forests and mountains on our web site.

Pamporova is a beginners ski resort really. Quite spread out with no real town or central area. Development not at the same level as Bansko but still an awful lot of new apartments etc. Would be very careful about investing here. Also road to resort not that great as mountain road and if bad weather, accident etc can be blocked for a long time. Nearest airport is Plovdiv but limited flights in and only in winter at the moment.
