Am considering buying one of these (or more likely Shogun version from UK) as I drive daily on crater strewn country roads (eg Enfield-Edenderry) My poor Corolla D4D is already complaining and its only 18 months old. Thinking of a 03/04. Only need a two seater. Have taken brief test-drive and was impressed, and done the honestjohn etc. Realise lower fuel-efficiency a factor. Anyone have any long term experience with one, or opinions/advice re reliability, comfort, or anything else I might have forgotten about.
Thanks in advance.

DOn't forget that maintenance costs will be higher as well.

Tyres spares etc.

Other than that the jap 4 wheel drives tend to be fairly bullet proof.

I would look at the landcruiser as well loads of them around.

If you can tax and insure commercially you are laughing.

Great load lugger as well.

Can you put the jeep down as company vehicle claim vat etc?

Cheers Frank. Can't claim vat, but should be able to swing comm tax. Landcruiser would be great, but really expensive here, and commercials like hen's teeth in UK. My 20k will get me a good pajero in UK, but only an old/high miles landcruiser here-unless you're floggin' one cheap?;)

If you want value for money, consider the Hyundai Sante Fe. I read that it is Irelands best selling 4WD ....there are lots of them about.
